My last day...

of being in my 20s. In honor of my last day as a 29-year old, I will list some of the milestones, crazy, scary, and wonderful adventures that I found myself in in the last decade.

And remember..it all began with them: Fru's badazz parents!

  • In the beginning of the decade, I was dating DickheadDan. I am glad that I wised up and didn't get stuck w/ this jerkazz.
  • When I turned 21, I was an RA in the Towers (which will be getting torn down at USC starting next week). I went to Damon's and drank a 12 oz. margarita, which knocked me on my azz.
  • I graduated with a BS in Criminal Justice w/ honors and I graduated w/ my Ed.S. in Counselor Education during this decade.
  • I saw the birth of my beautiful nephew, GabeyJophis and have seen him grow up into a super-cool kid.
  • I did the scariest thing I've ever done and married betterhalf when I was 25.
  • I tabled-danced, performed in a drunken haze and got into a shouting match with some skankwomens over betterhalf at some establishments down in the Vista.
  • Evie-Jane, my trusty stead of a Saturn, got hit twice and it wasn't my fault.
  • My good looks and contacts got me out of a ticket for running a red light.
  • I was at Woodstock 99 when they started to burn shit and I looked at the ppl I was with and said, "Let's get the f&%k out of here, NOW".
  • I spent many saturdays yelling, "Fight Song for Beer" in a Carolina Band uniform after Carolina Football games.
  • I got invited to resign in my first "real job" and was totally devastated.
  • I picked my trombone up again after walking away from it.
  • I watched one of my dearest friends survive a pregnancy and her mother being in a near-fatal car wreck.
  • I watched another dear friend move back to family and fight one of the hardest personal battles I can ever imagine.
  • I've seen my parents age, but still have fun like they are in their 20s.
  • I saw my youngest brother go into the Army and do expectionally well.
  • I'm watching my other brother prepare to go into the service, where he will also do exceptional things.
  • I almost lost my Papa and have watched him heal from having heart bypass.
  • I got mad as hell at God when BayBay kitty got sick and almost died.
  • I saw God's grace and was humbled when he brought her back to us.
  • I've seen my health decrease from good to fair and am currently fighting my azz off to be healthier.
  • I became a Licensed Professional Counselor, staring the process just days after I had been booted from my first job.
  • I went out west to visit my best friend D and fell in LOVE with Seattle.
  • I started doing Jazzercise and really enjoyed it. I stopped to grow my business but have recently started doing it again and am loving it.
  • I had panic attacks about leaving my "real job" to start my own practice. Thank God for my therapist and my friends who believed in me more than I believed in myself.
  • I found one of my bestest friends L at a supervision session and we've been arm-in-arm ever since.
  • Professionally, I have learned more about how to "navigate a system and cover my azz" than I ever thought would be possible.
  • I've lost friendships and made new ones. Thank God for KayKay!
  • I've grown a practice, become more accountable and am currently working on remaining humble.
  • I've fought betterhalf and then fought with betterhalf to save and improve our marriage.
  • I've remained teachable...less judgement, more curiosity (as a late AAP member used to say).
Okay..I think that's the best I can come up with right now. There are things I am sure that I've left off the list and there are things that are too vulnerable for me to post here. But I think it's been an awesome decade. I am grateful, blessed, and humble.
