Yesterday, betterhalf and I fought with the new filing cabinets for the better part of the day. It took us way longer to put them together than we had imagined and we are both intelligent people! Needless to say, they are assembled and I will soon be in OCD heaven with labeling, filing and organizing until my heart's content. Started watching Season 1 of The Office last night and was bummed to realize that betterhalf and I may have seen most of the episodes already. That's okay, though. I don't mind watching The Office over and over. I laugh at something different every time.
So it's New Years Eve..and that's hard for me to believe. Here is my yearly recap of the significant events that I remember. Much of it is a blur...
- January: I celebrated my 29th year by taking the day off from work for the first time ever. I set out, guns blazing, as a new business owner. I was terrified.
- February: Betterhalf celebrated his 39th year. Baybay kitty was cleared by Dr. Weinkle and was deemed a healthy, mutant (we knew this already).
- March: My dear friend M moved to upperstate SC. I miss her terribly.
- April: My parents celebrated 32 years together.
- June: Betterhalf and I celebrated 4 years of marriage. I read My Grandfather's Blessings by Rachel Naomi Remen and it changed my life and how I viewed my part in the world.
- July: I travelled the farthest out west I've ever been to Seattle, WA in late July. I instantly fell in love with the city and had an amazing visit with my dearest friends, D and K and SammyDog.
- October: Lump and I ventured up to Frederick to see family. I saw the Marine Marathon and took some awesomeazz pics of the monuments in DC.
- In November, I picked up my trombone again. Well, I picked up my dad's trombone again and joined the community concert band. Then I got an amazing, awesome early Christmas present and her name is "Pretty Baby". You can find a pic of her in an earlier post.
- It was around October when I realized that I wasn't a fluke in my business but I was scared of being successful. It was around October that I looked up and realized that I spent most of the year working and I was embarrassed.
- It was also around October that my health started not doing what it was supposed to as a result of poor eating, working too much and stress. I'm still working on that and thanks to Weight Watchers, I will slowly but surely get back on track.
- This year has seen some amazing friendships for me that have been so necessary for me to retain my sanity.
- I almost lost two people who are so important, so amazing to me. I am thankful every day for them and thankful that they are still here with us.
- My marriage continues to amaze me. That two people can move, flex and grow separately and together is purely awe-inspiring.
I am getting older and that seems to be okay with me. As I blog this, rain is pouring gently outside. BayBay kitty is sitting in the kitchen sink, drinking water and JiJi Kitty is mind-melding with the rain puddles on the back deck. This, my friends...is a vision of true happiness.
May 2007 bring happiness, health, and wellness to you all. Namaste!
